PEARSON BTEC INTERNATIONAL SUBSIDIARY DIPLOMA IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (#)

INTRODUCTION

The Pearson BTEC International Level 3 qualifications in Information Technology are designed for learners who are interested in the study of information technology, with a view to progressing to a range of graduate entry higher-education courses and/or working within the IT industry on completion of this qualification. Learners will have exposure to a wide range of IT topics that will enhance their progression to higher education in this sector, a complementary sector or a contrasting sector, and ultimately lead to employment.

The content of these qualifications has been designed to support progression to particular roles in information systems, either directly into entry-level roles linked to these occupational areas or, more likely, via particular higher-education routes in these particular areas. The qualification content has been designed in consultation with employers, professional bodies and higher-education providers to ensure that the content is appropriate for the progression routes identified.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• GCSE English Language C/Grade 4

• Click on the Admissions section for restrictions on number of A-Levels that can be undertaken;

• A good school/College report

COURSE STRUCTURE

BTEC International Level 3 Certificate in IT (equivalent to one AS-level):

• Two internally-assessed units in one year (Units 1 and 22)

BTEC International Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in IT (equivalent to one A-level):

• Five internally-assessed units in year one (Units 1, 6, 17, 19, and 22)

Note: All required units must be successfully passed in order to achieve the relevant Certificate/Diploma.

This course qualifies for UCAS points.
