ICT Facilities

The college prides itself in having good I.T. facilities. As it stands, we can boast the following:

  • Mircosoft Windows XP Professional Operating System on all computers.
  • Two new servers operating with Microsoft ‘Win 2003 Server’ Microsoft’s latest server operating system.
  • Over 140 Networked Pentium PCs plus standalones within 5 computer suites, Labs and Library.
  • Networked and shared printing facilities, using 7 high volume HP laser printers and scanners.
  • Students are provided with a secure 'home' folder accessible from any PC in the college -facilitating flexibility during classroom/subject migration.
  • Students are provided with their own personalized e-mail account, mostly used for university correspondence and for sending work home and vice versa.
  • Internet facility with ADSL technology is available from any PC in the College subject to a staff members’ electronic authorisation.
  • Teachers and students make good use of a ‘public’ networked shared folder, where information, exercises, homework and assignments are published by teachers for easy student access at their own time.
  • Our own local ‘Intranet’available for all to view, catering for common information such as College charity activities, sports tournaments and common ICT technical questions, frequently asked by all (FAQs).
  • For our full-time and part-time students the library provides facilities that include 23 computers and both scanning and printing facilities - open during evenings.
  • USB support on all computers, allowing the use of data sticks and similar devices.
  • CD-Writers on many computers
  • Flatbed scanners on many computers.

Investigation into the introduction of a wireless computer networking systems is being conducted with a view of implementing it in the not too distant future.


Library Facilities

  • A relatively new library with a very good variety of books suited to the needs of our courses. To give examples; over 344 books representing 172 titles in ICT related topics, and over 400 books representing 364 titles in Management, plus many more subjects.
  • The library has a computerised cataloguing/lending system, networked with the GHA School of Health Studies. Book titles can be searched remotely via our Web Cat, available also through the internet.
